Wizard Overview - Crystal Report Scheduler

Below you will see the main user interface and the "Job Wizard" being used to create a new job. The job wizard is the heart of Navarre Report Scheduler. Through this intuitive interface you will be walked through all the steps to collect the information needed to schedule a Crystal Report.

Here you can see the main user interface. Which is used in both editions. From here you can quickly view the status of the schedule just by looking at the treeview. The color of the traffic lights makes it very easy to see how the jobs are running.

From here you can also launch the job wizard to create a new job, start and stop the schedule, view the log and configure the options.

To schedule a new report press the "New Job" button.

"GENERAL INFORMATION "

You start by giving the "job" a name. This will be used in the treeview and in the activity logs.

Next you choose the processing mode. Here you can have Navarre Report Scheduler schedule a Crystal Report or alternate application. This second option gives you added flexibility for processing batch files, other applications or a custom report engine.

"JOB TYPE"

There are two ways to process a Crystal Report. The first way is "normal processing" where a report is refreshed only once and then exported. "Mass Distribution" is an optional module that takes a single report and refreshes it for each record in an ODBC database then exporting to one of the fields in the above database. This optional module is used when processing a reports like customer invoices or statements and salesman's reports.

"SCHEDULE"

In this section of the wizard you set how often you wish the report to be exported. There is currently four main schedule types, Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Custom. There is also an application to process a job multiple times in a single day.

Custom schedules are for nonrecurring special schedules that the current engine does not handle. Simply enter the dates and times needed for the report to be processed.

"DESTINATION"

Here you will set where you want the Crystal Report to be exported to and in what format. Currently there are four main types to choose from, Printer, Email, File and FTP. Through this screen you also select the export format. You can select PDF, Excel, Word, CSV, RPT and HTML.

Here you can also select to have the export file appended with the date and time.

"PARAMETERS"

In order for a report to be processed with no user interaction, all of the reports parameters must be stored. The left side of the screen will display all parameters, simply select each one and enter a value to be applied.

You can also use dynamic variables to calculate date values. These include the current date, last and first date of the month and the year.

"LOGIN"

Using this next step in the wizard to can manipulate the Crystal Reports connection properties. Any value can be edited and stored for each job. This is useful when running the same report against multiple databases.

All passwords are encrypted (128 bit) to protect your sensitive data.

"Test & Preview"

This final step in the wizard lets you test the job to insure that all the previously entered information produces the results that you were expecting. You can also preview the report to the screen.
